VINTAGE STRIPE STOCKING

CCOPY DETAIL

Our LOLL yarn features a special blend of Highland Wool and Alpaca fibers creating soft-as-a-kitten warmth and squishiness. Sustainably sourced and 100% naturally soft, (not chemically softened), LOLL is grown in the beautiful highlands of Peru and spun in a Fair Trade Certified facility.

With cashmere-like softness, LOLL is not too chunky or hot, making it a perfect choice for all of your upcoming projects (hats, scarves, sweaters, blankets, cowls, interiors accessories). And because it's naturally anti-itch, it's perfect for all those baby gifts you want to make or for anyone who is sensitive to the itch of natural wool.

SKILL LEVEL : INTERMEDIATE

Intermediate projects use more involved stitch combinations, color work, and shaping.  These patterns are best for knitters who are comfortable following a knit pattern and have worked with circular needles before.

PATTERN ABBREVIATIONS

K: Knit stitch
P: Purl  stitch
W&T (RS): Wrap & Turn for Knit Side

VINTAGE STRIPE STOCKING  PATTERN

1. Using your Main Color, measure out a 36" long yarn tail. Make a slip knot and cast-on 48  stitches using the LONG-TAIL CAST-ON METHOD

2. Place a STITCH MARKER on your right needle and join the work in the round, being careful not to twist any stitches.

3. Round 1: Knit all stitches.

Tip: Transfer the Stitch Marker over from left to right needle at the end of each round.

4. Round 2: Purl all stitches

5. Round 3-16: Repeat Round 1 & 2  (for a total of 7 more times) and your work measures 3" from the Cast-On edge.

Start of Stripe Repeat Pattern
6. Round 17-20: Knit all stitches (total 4 rounds)

7. Round 21, (Contrast Colour): Knit all stitches (total 1 round)

10. Rounds 22-66: Repeat the Stripe Repeat another 8 more times.

Round 67-68 (Main Colour):  Knit all stitches (total 2 rounds)

TIP: When you are working with multiple colours in the same work, do not cut each colour yarn tail at the end of each round as this will create a weaving-in nightmare at the end of your project.  Instead, carry the yarn (still attached to each ball) up your work.  At the end of your stripe, when it comes time to change colors, take the ball of yarn you are knitting with and wrap it counter clockwise one time around the yarn you are carrying up.  Aim to wrap the yarns around each other every 3-4 rounds and carry them up the work so that the inside of your piece is neat and tidy. Also it will help keep nice tension on your stitches at every colour change-over.

SHAPING THE HEEL
(
NOTE: To create the heel shape, you will be working only half of the stitches back and forth on the circular needle.
